Short Description

15 km LOOP - 1 PORTAGE flat-water race follows the path of the historic Soulanges Canal in the municipality of Les Cèdres.

PARKING: Public parking is permitted on both side of Saint Féréol road on the day of the event and a public parking is avalible on the north end of the calal.

RESTROOMS: Public restrooms are located in the park next to the boat launch.

4th ANNUAL SOULANGES CANAL CANOE RACE

ONLY 1 EASY PORTAGE!


Online Registration required before June 23th 2011

Race day registration will be accepted

Race Description
First Start will be at 10:00 am.
This year the race is in a form of an "8" and contains only one portage.
The start is west of Saint-Féréol road in Les Cèdres municipality. Participants will paddle west and do a U-turn before Saint-Dominique road back torwards the start line. The short portage will be across the Saint-Féréol road followed by a 5km loop.

The finish is then on the east side of Saint-Féréol road.

Note that no docks will be available at start and finish but clear and easely accessible drop zone will be set up for participants.

The Pre-Race Meeting will be held 20 min before the start.

Registration information
We accept Online Registration for this Race.
Last minute registration on race day will be accepted.


Junior: (19 years old and under)
12$ per paddler for Juniors (online)
22$ per paddler for Juniors (race day)

Senior: (20 years old and older)
25$ per single boat
35$ per single boat (race day)
40$ per boat for double occupancy boat
50$ per boat for double occupancy boat (race day)
80$ per boat for C4

100$ per boat for C4 (race day)
*Online registration are not refundable.

Race day information
You must pick-up your number at the information/registration tent between 8:30 and 9:30 AM in the park next to the start line.
The Pre-Race Meeting will be held 20 min before the start of the race.

First Start 10:00 AM
We will do wave starts according to time and speed of paddlers.
Your wave number will be tagged on your boat number.

Boat number need to be taped on the left side of your boat.
Please bring back your boat numbers when the race is finished.

Join us after the race for the post race meal and awards.
Sponsor gifts and prizes will be distributed at the award ceremony following the race.

Security
You are ultimately responsible for yourself, think safety first, before, during and after the race.

  • To take part in the race, every participant must register prior to the race.
  • Every racer must carry a Canadian Coast Guard approved life vest with them.
    Life vests must be accessible at all times. If race officials determine that conditions warrant it, all racers will be required to wear their life vests.
  • There will be safety boats on the course and assistance will be available on portages.
  • All portages will be clearly delimited. Please be cautious during portages.
  • In the eventuality of a head to head at a turn or portage the rule is first come first serve prevails.
  • If you need to leave the race for any reason, please notify an official as soon as possible.
  • If you have a cell phone and want to bring it along for safety purposes please do and mention it at the information tent.
