2 distances are offered to you at this race.

The 25 km - NO portages flat-water race starts in the heart of the city of Ormstown and follows the path of the Châteauguay River to the city of Sainte-Martine.

Or

The 16 Km - NO portages flat-water race starts at Allen's Corner in the city of Très-Saint-Sacrement and follows the path of the Châteauguay River to the city of Sainte-Martine.

2nd ANNUAL CHÂTEAUGUAY RIVER CANOE RACE


Online Registration required before Aug 1st 2011

No other form of registration will be accepted

Race Description
25 km First Start will be at 10:00 am.
16 km First Start will be at 10:30 am.

Race day information tent and boat number pick-up for the 25 km and 16 km from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the park next to the 25 Km start line.

Paddlers will go north-east and down-current on the river. This races has no portages. The start of the 25 Km race will be held in the heart of Ormstown, Qc and the start of the 16 Km race will be held at Allen's Corner in the city of Très-Saint-Sacrement.

The finish line will be on the River south of the municipality of Sainte-Martine, Qc.

Paddlers will pass in front of the finish line and continue downstream 1km to then turn around the marker and finish the race.

Easy access to the river will be avilable to paddler from start to finish.

The Pre-Race Meeting for both the 25km and 16km race will be held at 9h30 min in the park next to the start of the 25Km race.

Online registration information (prior to Aug 1st)
We only accept Online Registration for this Race.
No other form of registration will be accepted
No Last minute registration on race day.
* We require a minimum of 20 registered paddlers to host an event.
** In the unlikely case of the minimum paddlers number requirement not beeing met, we would refund online registered paddlers (minus a 5$ administration fee). We would then post the race cancellation on the web site and notify you by e-mail.

Junior: (19 years old and under)
12$ per paddler for Juniors

Senior: (20 years old and older)
25$ per single boat
40$ per boat for double occupancy boat
80$ per boat for C4

*Online registration are only refundable when minimum paddlers is not beeing met.

Race day information
For both races 25km and 16km, you must pick-up your number at the information tent between 8:30 and 9:30 AM in the park next to the 25 Km start line.

The Pre-Race Meeting will be held at 9h30 min in the park next to the start of the 25Km race.

We will do wave starts according to time and speed of paddlers.
Your wave number will be tagged on your boat number.

Boat number need to be taped on the left side of your boat.
Please bring back your boat numbers when the race is finished.

Racers are encouraged to have support personnel, or “pit crew” accompany them along the racecourse. Pit crew can carry belongings, and offer refreshments and encouragement throughout the race course.

Post race shuttle will be available uppon request on the online registration form.
If you are planning to use the shuttle you may place some change of clothes in the shuttle following the pre-race meeting.

Join us after the race for the post race meal and awards.
Sponsor gifts and prizes will be distributed at the award ceremony following the race.

Security
You are ultimately responsible for yourself, think safety first, before, during and after the race.

  • To take part in the race, every participant must register online prior to the race.
  • Every racer must carry a Canadian Coast Guard approved life vest with them.
    Life vests must be accessible at all times. If race officials determine that conditions warrant it, all racers will be required to wear their life vests.
  • There will be safety boats on the course and assistance will be available on portages.
  • All portages will be clearly delimited. Please be cautious during portages.
  • In the eventuality of a head to head at a turn or portage the rule is first come first serve.
  • If you need to leave the race for any reason, please notify an official as soon as possible.
  • If you have a cell phone and want to bring it along for safety purposes please do and mention it at the information tent.
